These Shona stone carvings were created by members of the Shona, Lemba and SAN tribes from Southern Africa. The carving typically reflect the artists vision of his/her culture and traditions. No two pieces are the same. The artists of these stones have over the years developed skills in the selection of raw stones with inherently beautiful hues and tones and then hand-sculpting them into a variety of art forms. Once this beautiful natural stone is sculpted and imbued with the values and feelings of the artisan, it is carefully polished to produce a piece of art all lovers of beauty can cherish. No mechanical device is used in the production of each piece of art. The excavation of the raw quarry stone, the carving work and polishing is all done manually. All the pieces emit warmth, are soothing to the touch, and they refine a room as only as only a natural earth product, finely handcrafted, can do.The pieces are simple, and simply beautiful. Each one is individual and each is a reflection of the artists creativity. This art form is still very affordable, another good reason to now become a collector of these unique handcrafted pieces. A custom made piece of corian has been built and installed as a display stand giving the carving a classic look and ensuring 100% stability.
