The Binga district is on the northwest shore of Lake Kariba in the province of Matabeleland North.
In the early 1960s, the fertile lands of the baTonga people were permanently buried in water during the construction of one of the largest man-made lakes in the world, Lake Kariba, and the people who lived there were forced to relocate to the Binga district.
Handwoven from natural palm leaves, these unique flat-shaped, natural baskets make for a wonderful wall hanging.
